Abstract of the Invention The invention is directed to an herbicidal composition composed of at least one bacterial agent mixed with water and at least one surfactant. Suitable bacterial agents include essentially pure strains of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tagetis. Suitable surfactants include organosilicon polymer surfactants. The invention also includes a method for isolation of bacterial agents including strains of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tagetis from plant hosts which exhibit symptoms of a disease like apical chlorosis or leaf spot disease. The invention further provides for a method of using the herbicidal composition to control weed growth by applying the herbicidal composition to a weed population until weed growth is effectively inhibited.
