Abstract of the Disclosure: Microcapsules with a solid core are obtainable by suspension polymerization of A) from 30 to 100% by weight of one or more vinyl monomers (monomers I), B) from 0 to 70% by weight of one or more bi- or polyfunctional monomers (monomers II) and C) from 0 to 40% by weight of other monomers (monomers III), by dispersing the solid particles, the monomers and one or more oil-soluble free-radical initiators in water and initiating and controlling the polymerization in a conventional manner through thermal decomposition of the free-radical initiator.
