The present invention relates generally to intravascular catheters for performing medical procedures. An intravascular catheter is disclosed comprising a shaft, the shaft comprising an inner liner having a distal end, a distal tip; a second layer disposed over the inner liner, the second layer extending from the proximal end of the shaft to a distal terminus; a third layer disposed over the second layer; and a fourth layer disposed over the third layer, the fourth layer including a proximal end and a distal end. In addition, a method of manufacturing a catheter according to a preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed.

La présente invention concerne des cathéters intravasculaires servant à réaliser des interventions médicales. Selon l'invention, un cathéter intravasculaire comprend une tige pourvue d'une enveloppe interne à extrémité distale et d'une extrémité distale, une seconde couche disposée sur ladite enveloppe et s'étendant de l'extrémité proximale de la tige jusqu'au bout distal, une troisième couche disposée sur la seconde couche et une quatrième couche située sur la troisième couche et comportant des extrémités proximale et distale. En outre, un mode de réalisation de cette invention a trait à un procédé de fabrication d'un cathéter.
