ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Synthetic microcellular paintbrush bristles are produced having a generally consistent cross-sectional shape along their length and a rough and irregular surface. The bristles comprise 15 to 40% cells on a volume basis, the cells being predominantly closed in the interior of the bristle and being open along the wall to provide the rough and irregular surface.
