Indicators (such as light emitting diodes) are provided on the inputs and the outputs of the microcomputer along with switches to override the normal input or output. As a result, both the inputs and the outputs can be "forced" to a given state to be able to differentiate between a failure in ancillary equipment and a failure in the microcomputer itself. - i -
