ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A microfiche recorder for recording data by exposing microfiche film to pages of printed data in image projecting manner includes an X carriage movable along an elongated guide member for moving a film holding platen in the X direction and a Y carriage mounted on the X carriage and movable in the Y direction for moving the platen therealong. The elongated guide member provides a pivot connection wherein both the X carriage and the Y carriage are swingable in a Z direction toward and away from the microfiche holding platen.
