ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a microfilm card, sorting criteria are applied to a coding field of the microfilm optically instead of in the form of perforations. This coding field is provided on A narrow side of the microfilm card. As a result, for coding, the necessary data can be read off directly from the original to be photo- graphed, The process for producing such microfilm cards does away with the hitherto necessary coding station with the film- card reader, the punch and the hold duplicator. It also permits larger and more legible clear script at the top edge of the microfilm card.
