A microbe capable of producing a dipeptide wherein the activities of at least one peptidase and at least one protein having peptide intake activity have been lowered or lost; or a microbe capable of producing a dipeptide wherein the activity of three or more peptidases has been lowered or lost. There is further provided a process for producing a dipeptide with the use of the microbe.
