The device is now a squarely-truncated horizontal cylinder capped at each end by a circular disc central to which is placed a transducer. With amplification the device yields the sound spectrum which can be heard in consciousness. The cylinder is extended just sufficiently to accommodate truncation at 35 degrees 16 minutes yielding a chiral pair of elliptical openings which, with amplification, add cues to sound-source localization and range determination which are not heard but are known subconsciously. The long axes of the elliptical openings are set orthogonally at 45 degrees to the horizon, thus allowing correct spatial orientation. Elliptical caps, with open edges, are applied to the elliptical ends of the device hiding the transducers from view and from direct sound. To cancel internally generated resonances the enclosed spaces are filled with fine irregularly--shaped particulate matter.
Le dispositif consiste à présent en un cylindre horizontal franchement tronqué et obturé à chaque extrémité par un disque circulaire central sur lequel est installé un transducteur. Moyennant une amplification, le dispositif produit le spectre acoustique que l'on peut entendre dans un état de conscience. Le cylindre est suffisamment allongé pour pouvoir être tronqué à 35 degrés 16 minutes de manière à former une paire chirale d'ouvertures elliptiques qui, avec une amplification, ajoutent des repères permettant de localiser l'emplacement de la source sonore et de déterminer la portée, lesquels ne sont pas entendus, mais sont connus par le subconscient. Les axes longs des ouvertures elliptiques sont établis orthogonalement à 45 degrés par rapport à l'horizon, ce qui permet d'obtenir une orientation spatiale correcte. Des capuchons de forme elliptique, munis de bordures ouvertes, sont apposés aux extrémités elliptiques du dispositif, cachant ainsi les transducteurs et protégeant ces derniers contre le son direct. Pour annuler les résonances produites à l'intérieur du dispositif, les espaces fermés sont remplis de matières particulaires fines aux formes irrégulières.
