ABSTRACT The invention provides microporous polymer films which comprise a halopolymer in which the repeat units are -(Cn H2n)- and -(Cm X2m)-, where each X indepen_ dently represents fluorine or chlorine and the values of n and m are more than one and less than six. The films of the invention can be suitable for use in high tem- perature applications and can be substantially inert to certain chemically aggressive substances such as alkali and alkaline earth metals. The films find particular application in electrochemical cells comprising a lithium anode and thionyl chloride electrolyte.
