An in-line filter assembly is provided of the type having a housing divided intoan inlet chamber (10) and an outlet chamber (30) by a filter membrane (37) having its periphery fluid flow sealed within the housing. The filter is readily disassemblable so that the filter membrane (37) can be removed for identification or analysis of the mate- rial filtered from the fluid during use of the filter.
