- 1 - Abstract A microwave alcohol fuel sensor comprises a micro- wave oscillator, a microwave receiver, and a microwave transmission circuit connected to the oscillator and the receiver. This transmission circuit comprises a dielectric substrate and a strip line mounted on a substrate so that microwave energy leaks from the substrate to an alcohol-gasoline fuel. The microwave energy is attenuated by the alcohol dielectric loss, whereby the output voltage from the receiver corresponds to the alcohol content ratio. The dielectric substrate can be made tubular so that a constant amount of the fuel is fed to the sensor.
