ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A utensil for making hot drinks comprises a cup, cork, funnel and filter. The whole unit is formed of a material which may be polymeric, ceramic or glass, which is generally transparent to microwave energy. The cup may be of any size and so might be described as a pot. The cup may have a handle. When assembled, the cork is seated in the cup top to form an air-tight seal, a tube passes downward from the base of the funnel through the cork and terminates in close juxtaposition to the bottom of the cup. An air- tight seal is formed where the funnel tube passes through the cork. The filter mechanism may include a porous and/or dimpled ball in association with a grooved or smooth funnel, alternatively a porous plate may be attached to the walls of the funnel.
