ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a microwave oven there is described an improved oven wherein the bottom or lower surface of the oven cavity is formed with a recess of non-uniform cross sectional configuration for the purpose of achieving more uniform heating of a food stuff. In known microwave ovens, a recess of unidorm configura- tion is formed into the lower surface of the oven cavity which results in an uneven heating of the food stuff placed atop a platform or turntable mounted above the recess. In this inven- tion, the lower surface of the oven cavity is formed with a recess of non-uniform configuration to thereby randomly reflect microwave energy, thereby resulting in the exposure of the food stuff placed atop the turntable to uniform intensities of microwave energy and thus to more even heating.
