ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A microwave oven is provided with a rotatable tray in a cooking chamber of the oven casing for uniform heating of the food to be cooked. The tray has N and S poles of a permanent magnet circularly disposed around its axis on its underside. The casing correspondingly has an electromagnet with a circular row of poles of alternately opposite polarities for generating a magnetic field to interact with the poles of the permanent magnet and thus rotate the tray. As a result the cooking chamber is able to dispense with mechanical element such as shaft and with a hole in the floor of the oven casing.
