Abstract of the Disclosure A microwave oven is provided with an automatic, timer-controlled output power control system. The oven has a microwave generator capable of generating a larger output power or a smaller output power. A first timer sets a first period for generating the larger output and a second timer sets a second period for generating the smaller output. An output control mechanism controls the microwave generator so as to generate the larger output for the first period and subsequently the smaller output for the second period.
