ABSTRACT OF TOE DISCLOSURE A door latching assembly for a microwave oven has a housing provided with a door, the door having a latch head for securing the door and a lever, operatively associated with the latch head, for releasing the latch head. A latch hook, secured only to a floor portion of the oven and disposed behind a front panel aligned with the door, engages the latch head and the lever, and a vertical base plate is provided which has a latch-hook for releasable securing the latch-head, the vertical base plate and latch hook being secured only to the bottom plate of the oven.
