ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the treatment of vegetable matter, such as beans and other seeds containing anti-tripsin enzyme, the matter is subjected to microwave energy within a confined space while hot dry air is caused to flow through the space to re- move moisture therefrom. The microwave energy is applied to the matter through a leaky waveguide, while the vegetable matter is fed through the field of energy radiation in a uniformly compacted condition, the hot dry air flowing trans- versely to the direction of feed.
