In a microwave powered electrodeless lamp (2), a single rotary motor (16) is used to a) rotate the bulb and b) provide rotary motion to a blower means (18) or pump means (60) for providing cooling fluid to the magnetron (4) and/or to a forced gas cooling means for providing cooling gas to the bulb. The blower means may only consist of an impeller without the usual blower housing. The motor, bulb stem and bulb, or motor, bulb stem, bulb and blower may be formed as an integral unit so as to facilitate replacement.
