ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Devices for replacing worn or damaged wooden mine shaft guides comprising a series of circular platforms arranged in a carousel type manner in which a supply of fresh mine shaft guides and positions for damaged guides are available. The device is lowered to the position in the mine shaft wherein a guide is to be changed and the damaged or worn guide is removed and replaced with a fresh guide in a single stage operation. The device is also used to rotate guides, 180° on the respective axis, where the extent of guide wear does not dictate replacement.
