The present invention is directed to a process of making fired mineral pellets by mixing particulate mineral material with moisture and binder comprising substantially water soluble organic polymer to form a moist pelletisable mix, pelletising the moist mix by a tumbling process to form green pellets and firing the green pellets, characterised in that the binder comprises alkali metal silicate in a dry weight amount which is either (a) above 0.13 % based on moist mix or (b) above 0.08 % based on moist mix and at least three times the dry weight of substantially water soluble organic polymer.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de confectionner des granulés de matière minérale calcinée. Ce procédé consiste, d'abord à mélanger une matière minérale particulaire avec un agent mouillant et un liant comprenant un polymère organique sensiblement hydrosoluble de façon à former un mélange mouillé apte à former des granulés. Le procédé consiste ensuite à rouler en granulés le mélange mouillé dans un tonneau de façon à former des granulés verts. Le procédé consiste enfin à calciner les granulés verts. En l'occurrence, le liant contient un silicate de métal alcalin dans une proportion représentant, sur extrait sec, soit (a) plus de 0,13% du mélange mouillé, soit (b) plus de 0,08% du mélange mouillé mais au moins trois fois la masse sur extrait sec du polymère organique sensiblement hydrosoluble.
