A low profile, low volume smoke chamber displaces a light source, such as a light emitting diode or laser diode, and a sensor, such as photodiode or phototransistor, to the exterior of the sensing volume. A symmetrical sensing volume results which can be coupled to symmetrical input/output ports via a generally U-shaped flow path. A two part sensing chamber housing is formed with a lower cylindrical base portion and an upper cylindrical cover portion which slideably engage one another. At least the upper cylindrical portion carries a plurality of grooves for suppression of reflections and collection of dust. An exterior end of the upper portion carries a plurality of spaced apart openings which can be filled with a screen. A reduced sensing volume in combination with a selected screen size produces an acceptable signal to noise ratio and response rate while still excluding insects and other non-smoke related particulate matter.
Il s'agit d'un détecteur de fumée au profil bas et à faible volume qui déplace une source de lumière, telle qu'une diode électroluminescente ou une diode laser, et un capteur, tel qu'une photodiode ou un phototransistor, à l'extérieur du volume de détection. Il s'ensuit un volume de détection symétrique qui peut être couplé à des ports d'entrée/sortie symétriques par l'intermédiaire d'un trajet d'écoulement généralement en U. Le détecteur comporte un boîtier à deux parties, soit une partie de base cylindrique inférieure et une partie de couvercle cylindrique supérieur qui s'engagent l'une dans l'autre de façon coulissante. Au moins la partie cylindrique supérieure porte une pluralité de rainures pour supprimer la réflexion et l'accumulation de poussière. Une extrémité extérieure de la partie supérieure porte une pluralité d'ouvertures espacées qui peuvent accueillir un écran. Un volume de détection réduit en combinaison avec une taille d'écran sélectionnée produit un rapport de signal sur bruit et une vitesse de réponse acceptables, tout en empêchant l'entrée d'insectes et de matières particulaires connexes autres que la fumée.
