MINIATURIZED TAPE CARTRIDGE DRIVE FOR DATA PROCESSORS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A miniaturized cartridge-type tape drive for data storage applications having a main support frame upon which are mounted a tape-drive motor and a transducer-positioning motor, disposed one behind the other in generally tandom position. Both such motors preferably have generally flat silhouettes, enabling the drive to be small and compact, and both motors are directly-coupled to corresponding actuating members, i.e., a tape-driving capstan for the tape-drive motor and a rotary positioning cam for the transducer- positioning motor. An elongated transducer-positioning linkage arm extends from the rotary cam, which is nearer the rear portion of the support frame, to the transducer, which is nearer the front portion of the frame, and the arm has pivot-mounting structure toward the center portion of its length mounted in corresponding pivot mounts on the main support frame.
