ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mining machine is disclosed for winning mineral material in a mine working. The mining machine has a base frame, a conveyor mounted on the base frame, and advance means for advancing the base frame in a given direction. A guide is mounted on the base frame, and extends transversely with respect to said direction. A cutting machine is mounted on the guide for movement therealong. The base frame is provided with two transversely-spaced bracing and directional control units, each of which comprises first and second hydraulic props. The first hydraulic prop of each unit is extensible towards the roof of the mine working, and the second hydraulic prop of each unit is extensible, independently of the associated first hydraulic prop, towards the floor of the mine working.
