A minnow trap fabricated from transparent plastic acrylic which is lightweight, can be cast using a fishing rod, and is substantially invisible when immersed in water. The trap comprises a plastic cylindrical or spherical container having preferably a pair of inwardly facing funnel-shaped, i.e. frusto-conical, openings. Minnows are attracted into the trap by bread crumbs or the like bait, and can only exit with difficulty. At least one of the container or the funnels is perforated to allow for water flow and for pressure equalization.
