26541-76 ABSTRACT The improvement to the mirror arrangement for a path of rays in a multiple reflection unit for measuring the absorption of light in a test gas, in which an entrance opening is imaged above an incident aperture mirror, a field mirror and an emergence aperture mirror is imaged on an exit opening, is such that the astigmatic image defects are reduced substantially. For this purpose, it is provided that the shape of the aperture mirrors is formed approximately by an ellipsoid, whereby the focal length is approximately equal to half the distance between the entrance opening and the exit opening.
