The present invention provides a method for producing direct reduced iron in a continuous and efficient fashion, which includes providing a mixture of a particulate iron oxide composition and a particulate carbonaceous reductant composition; the mixture being substantially unagglomerated and having a moisture content of less than about 14 % water by weight; positioning the mixture onto a rotary hearth furnace; subjecting the mixture to reducing conditions to reduce a substantial portion of the iron oxide, thereby producing sponge iron; and discharging the sponge iron from the rotary hearth furnace.
Procédé permettant de produire du fer de réduction directe, de manière continue et efficace. Le procédé consiste à utiliser un mélange d'une composition d'oxyde de fer particulaire et d'une composition d'agent réducteur carboné particulaire, le mélange étant sensiblement non aggloméré et présentant une teneur en humidité inférieure à environ 14 % d'eau en poids; à placer le mélange dans un four à foyer rotatif; à imposer au mélange des conditions réductrices pour réduire une partie substantielle de l'oxyde de fer et produire ainsi du fer spongieux; puis à sortir le fer spongieux du four à foyer rotatif.
