A dispersant composition comprising the product of an amine, an alcohol, or an amino alcohol, with a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic anhydride component exhibits improved viscosity stability and reduced chlorine content, when the hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic anhydride component comprises: (a) 10 to 95 weight percent of a component prepared by reacting a polyisobutylene with maleic anhydride in the presence of chlorine; and (b) 5 to 90 weight percent of a component prepared by reacting a polyisobutylene with maleic anhydride in the substantial absence of chlorine.

L'invention concerne une composition de dispersants contenant le produit d'une amine, d'un alcool ou d'un amino-alcool, avec un composant anhydride succinique substitué par un hydrocarbyle. Cette composition a une stabilité de viscosité améliorée et un contenu de chlorure réduit. Lorsque le composant anhydride substitué par un hydrocarbyle comprend ; (a) 10 à 95 pourcents en poids d'un composant obtenu par réaction d'un polyisobutylène avec un anhydride maléique en présence de chlorure; et (b) 5 à 90 pourcents en poids d'un composant obtenu par réaction d'un polyisobutylène avec un anhydride maléique en l'absence importante de chlorure.
