A device useful for separating the components of gas mixtures includes a selectively gas permeable mixed matrix membrane of a dispersed phase of chabazite type molecular sieve particles uniformly distributed throughout a continuous phase of a polymer. The membrane can be fabricated by dispersing the chabazite type molecular sieve particles in a solution of the polymer dissolved in a suitable solvent, and then forming the suspension into a membrane structure by conventional polymer membrane fabrication techniques. Mixed matrix membranes with chabazite type molecular sieves are well suited to separations of oxygen, carbon dioxide or helium from nitrogen or methane.
Un dispositif utile pour la séparation de composants de mélanges gazeux, comprend une membrane matricielle mixte perméable aux gaz et constituée de particules de tamis moléculaire du type chabazite, réparties uniformément dans une phase continue d'un polymère. Ladite membrane peut être fabriquée par la dispersion des particules du tamis moléculaire du type chabazite dans une solution du polymère dissous dans un solvant approprié, et par la transformation de la suspension en une structure membranaire au moyen de techniques de fabrication classiques de membranes en polymère. Les membranes matricielles mixtes à tamis moléculaires du type chabazite conviennent bien à la séparation de l'oxygène, du dioxyde de carbone ou de l'hélium, de l'azote ou du méthane.
