A mixing nozzle for mixing a primary and a secondary fluid, has an inlet for primary fluid, a fluid mixing zone located downstream of the inlet, a plurality of secondary fluid inlets in spaced, convergent relation with the axis of flow of the primary inlet, wherein the secondary inlets are inclined in converging relation towards the primary inlet flow axis, at an angle of less than 90 degrees therefrom. In one embodiment a portion of the nozzle is selectively movable in flow controlling relation with the secondary nozzles, in use to enable effective control of the proportion of secondary fluid admitted to the fluid mixing zone in response to a flow of primary fluid thereto. In a gas burning heating torch embodiment a portion of the nozzle structure is movable, to selectively control the admission of the secondary fluid, air, to the mixing chamber. In one embodiment the air intake nozzles are inclined at about 45 degrees to the axis of the gas inlet. The movable nozzle portion is connected by screw threads to the body of the torch, such that relative rotation thereof effects the desired adjustment in the gas to air ratio. When used as a blowtorch the nozzle runs cool to the touch, and can be readily handled during use. The torch is enable for ready use with propane or with acetylene, by the provision of a replaceable regulating throttle piece at the gas inlet end. This also can be used to change the range of heat output of the torch.
