MIXING PROCESS BY MEANS OF SCREW THREADS OPERATING CONTRARYWISE TO THE SCREW OF AN EXTRUDER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for mixing products which uses an extruder having one or more screws, rotating in a cylinder, to determine forward movement of the material. A backward flow of material is generated by means of a counterthreading whose lead is opposite to that of the extruder screw. The backward flow on meeting the forward flow gives rise to increasingly thorough mixing while the material moves forward. The forward movement of the mixed material is ensured by providing the counter threading with a helical channel whose lead is the same as that of the extruder screw, or with channels or holes of varying sizes and position.
