The present invention relates to compositions containing A) 10 to 90 wt.% of one or more metal salts of long chain carboxylic acids corresponding to formula (I) (M n+)(X-)n (I), wherein M represents a metal cation, X represents a C6-C14 aliphatic and/or aromatic carboxylate and n represents an integer from 1 to 5, and B) 10 to 90 wt.% of a carboxylic acid ester corresponding to formula (I1) (see formula I1) wherein R1 represents a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic C14-C22 residue and R2 represents a C1-C4 alkyl group. The present invention also relates to a process for the production of these mixtures and to their use as drying agents (siccatives) in oxidatively drying coating compositions (lacquers).
