Abstract In order that the new connecting belt bridge (5) can be fed by an excavating device excavating in the direction of travel both in a high cutting mode as well as in a low cutting mode and can pass from the surface level for the deep cut to the surface level of the high cut (6) by way of the surface level (7) of the pit level belt (3) - and visa versa -, both the feed end side as well as the discharge side end of the connecting belt bridge (5) are each supported on their own travelling means (8 resp. 9). The discharge side travelling means (8) is of a portal-like design and comprises on both sides of the pit level belt (3) a travelling unit which is not railbound (chain drive 10). The connecting belt bridge (5) is pivotally supported on the discharge side travelling means (8) both about a vertical as well as a horizontal axis (15 resp. 12) and on the feed side travelling means (9) by way of a longitudinally displaceable single point support (23) including a support beam (18) which can be horizontally aligned and comprises at its feed side end a feed jib (25) hinged on by way of a horizontal transverse axis (17a).
