A mobile enforcement reader (MER) includes an antenna, a reader coupled to receive signals from the antenna and a control/display unit (CDU) coupled to the reader. The CDU selects a receive direction and processes signals provided thereto from the reader. When the MER and a transponder are in proximity, the MER interrogates the transponder and receives information related to toll payment. The MER allows enforcement officials to monitor payment by single occupancy vehicle (SOV) traffic for use of high occupancy traffic (HOT) lanes.

La présente invention se rapporte à un lecteur mobile d'application (MER), qui comprend une antenne, un lecteur couplé de manière à recevoir des signaux de l'antenne, et une unité de commande/affichage (CDU) couplée au lecteur. La CDU sélectionne une direction de réception et traite des signaux fournis dans cette dernière à partir du lecteur. Lorsque le MER et un transpondeur sont à proximité l'un de l'autre, le MER interroge le transpondeur et reçoit des informations liées au paiement du droit de péage. Le MER autorise des agents d'application à superviser le paiement de véhicules à passager unique (SOV) pour que ces derniers puissent emprunter des voies réservées aux véhicules à occupation multiples (HOT).
