A wireless barcode printing system is disclosed. The barcode printing system includes a radio frequency communicator and a barcode printer coupled to the radio frequency communicator. The radio frequency communicator receives printer messages, which include print data and a printer address. The barcode printer has a memory for storing a printer address corresponding to the barcode printer and a processor for processing print data received by the communicator. The barcode printer only processes print data that is associated with a printer address that matches the stored printer address, but will process any received print data in the absence of a stored printer address. The barcode printer can further include at least one user actuatable input switch for programming a plurality of communication parameters into the memory. Each communication parameter is associated with a predetermined number of switch actuations.
