Various methods are disclosed for operating a mobile station of a type that receives a digital traffic channel, such as an IS-136 compliant mobile station. One of the methods includes steps of (a) receiving a signal from a forward traffic channel and decoding the received signal using a first predetermined decoding technique to generate a first bit error rate (BER); (b) decoding the received signal using a second predetermined decoding technique to generate a second BER; (c) comparing the first BER to the second BER; and (d) declaring the received signal to be one of a FACCH message or user data depending on a result of the comparison. The step of declaring may include a preliminary step, for a case where the step of comparing indicates that the received signal is a FACCH message, of first verifying that the received signal contains a valid FACCH message type.
Cette inventions concerne diverses méthodes d'utilisation d'une station mobile du type qui reçoit un canal de trafic numérique, par exemple une station mobile conforme à la norme IS-136. L'une de ces méthodes consiste à : (a) recevoir un signal provenant d'un canal de trafic vers l'avant et à décoder le signal reçu au moyen d'une première technique déterminée de décodage afin de générer un premier taux d'erreurs sur les bits (BER) ; (b) décoder le signal reçu au moyen d'une seconde technique déterminée de décodage afin de générer un second taux d'erreurs sur les bits (BER) ; (c) comparer le premier BER au second BER ; et (d) selon le résultat de la comparaison, déclarer le signal reçu comme faisant partie d'un message de canal de signalisation rapide (FACCH) ou de données utilisateur. S'il ressort de la comparaison que le signal reçu est un message FACCH, le processus de déclaration peut passer par une étape préliminaire consistant à s'assurer au préalable que le signal reçu correspond à un message valable de type FACCH.
