A mobile transceiver for use in a communications system having a first satellite for receiving request signals from a coverage area and a second satellite for transmitting data to at least a portion of the coverage area, said first and second satellites each having a communications link to a common network such as the Internet. The mobile transceiver comprises a first automatically stabilized directional antenna for tracking the first satellite and sending request signals thereto, a second automatically stabilized directional antenna for tracking the second satellite and receiving data signals therefrom, and a user terminal connected to said first and second antennas for generating said request signals for transmission by said first antenna and receiving requested data through the second antenna.
