A method is provided for generating information on a computer system that relates to preforming a task or a work activity. A user is required to decompose the task or work activity into processes, subprocesses, that are further decomposed into steps and eventually micro-steps. As this decomposition occurs the system builds a network of interrelated processes, subprocesses, micro-steps and atomic level activities and stores information related to the ordering of the atomic level activities inaccordance with their relative positional relationship in the network. All process are eventually decomposed into one or more of three atomic level activities: a store/retrieve activity, a transform activity or a transport activity. A suitably programmed processor processes the data associated with each micro-step related to each ordered atomic level activity through an atomic level activity executor.
