Gas-diffusion electrodes containing modified carbon products are described wherein the modified carbon product is a carbon product having attached at least one organic group. The modified carbon product comprises a carbon product having attached at least one hydrophobic organic group and at least one hydrophilic group. The modified carbon product can be used for at least one component of the electrodes such as the active layer and/or the blocking layer. Methods to extend the service life of electrodes as well as methods to reduce the amount of fluorine containing compounds are also described.

L'invention concerne des électrodes à diffusion de gaz contenant des produits carbonés modifiés, le produit carboné modifié se présentant comme un produit carboné auquel est attaché au moins un groupe organique. Le produit carboné modifié comprend un produit carboné auquel est attaché au moins un groupe organique hydrophobe et au moins un groupe hydrophile. Le produit carboné modifié peut être utilisé pour au moins un composant des électrodes tel que la couche active et/ou la couche de blocage. L'invention concerne aussi des procédés pour prolonger la durée de vie des électrodes et pour réduire la quantité de composés fluorés.
