A method is disclosed for the use of a modified latex making it possible to provide a combination of hydrogene bonds and covalent bonds in fibrous products. A softener product is added to the binder solution before its application onto the fibrous product. The softener is a natural latex added to a latex binder contained in a water suspension. It has surprisingly shown that a product manufactured with a modified latex will occur more soft and silky and also stronger than products made by use of a normal latex binder. The modified latex is especially suitable for use in a process in which a mechanical softening treatment is effected on the fibrous product.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'utilisation d'un latex modifié permettant de produire une combinaison de liaisons hydrogène et covalentes dans des produits fibreux. On ajoute un plastifiant dans la solution de liaison avant d'appliquer cette dernière sur le produit fibreux. Le plastifiant est un latex naturel mélangé avec un liant au latex contenu dans une suspension d'eau. On a constaté avec surprise qu'un produit fabriqué avec un latex modifié est plus doux et soyeux, et également plus résistant que les produits fabriqués à l'aide d'un liant au latex normal. Ledit latex modifié convient particulièrement dans les procédés dans lesquels un traitement d'adoucissement mécanique est réalisé sur le produit fibreux.
