An in situ process for making improved zeolitic fluid cracking catalyst by spray drying a mixture of hydrous kaolin, gibbsite and spinel, essentially free from metakaolin, calcining the resulting microspheres to convert the hydrous kaolin to metakaolin whereby the gibbsite is hydrothermally converted to a transitional alumina, and reacting the microspheres composed of a mixture of spinel, transitional alumina and metakaolin with a seeded alkaline sodium silicate solution.

La présente invention décrit un procédé in situ de fabrication d'un catalyseur amélioré de craquage catalytique fluide zéolitique, consistant à faire sécher par pulvérisation un mélange de kaolin hydraté, de gibbsite et de spinelle, largement dépourvu de métakaolin, à calciner les microsphères résultantes afin de convertir le kaolin hydraté en métakaolin, de sorte que la gibbsite est convertie par voies hydrothermique en oxyde d'aluminium de transition et à faire réagir les microsphères composées d'un mélange de spinelle, d'oxyde d'aluminium de transition et de métakaolin avec une solution alcaline de silicate de sodium ensemencée.
