MODIFIED PHOSPHORUS FURNACE OPERATION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A more efficient and economical phosphorus furnace process with much improved and safer working conditions is described. The process is carried out without an electro- static precipitator, while ensuring that the furnace exit gases are at consistently low temperatures, and at a slight positive pressure in the duct from the furnace to the precipitator and that partial condensation of phosphorus prior to the condensers takes place substantially dry.
