Novel bioabsorbable polyester are provided herein. Such bioabsorbable polyester compositions are obtained by mixing a polyester containing a glycolic acid unit and/or a lactic acid unit, with a polyether modified siloxane represented by the Formula (I): Image wherein R1 and R'1 are a hydrogen, an alkyl group, a hydrogen terminated polyaxyalkylene group having a poly- merization degree of 200 or less, a hydroxyl group, a hydroxyalkyl group or a hydroxy terminated polyoxyalkylene group having a polymerization degree of 200 or less, and at least one of R1 and R'1 is a hydroxy terminated polyoxy- alkylene group having a polymerization degree of 200 or less, or a hydroxy terminated polyoxyalkylene group having a polymerization degree of 200 or less; R2 and R3 are alkyl groups, phenyl groups or halogen atoms, and may be the same or different; and n is an integer of 1 to 4000. The con- tent of the polyether-modified siloxane is in the range of 0.1 to 30% by weight in the composition. These polyester compositions have desirable high degree of biocompatibility and are soft while having a high level of processability.
