ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A modified polyester resin, for coating use, comprising a polyester resin modified with 5 to 30% by weight, of the total solid content, of isononanoic acid and with 5 to 30% by weight, of the total solid content, of a cyclic ester represented by the formula: Image wherein R represents an alkylene group having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, the resin having a hydroxyl value of 70 to 300. The present resin composition is specifically useful as a resinous vehicle in a top coat composition for plastic and other substrates.
