A modified starch composition is made by combining a starch with a polymer and cooking the combined starch and polymer composition under acidic conditions, the cooking producing anionic groups on the polymer. Another modified starch composition is made by cooking a starch and combining the cooked starch with a cooked polymer, the cooking producing anionic groups on the polymer, and the polymer having been cooked separately from the starch. The compositions may be used as clarifying aids for removing solids and other suspended materials from aqueous dispersions, and in particular as retention aids in the manufacture of paper.
L'invention porte sur une composition d'amidon modifié réalisée en associant un amidon à un polymère et en cuisant la composition faite d'une association d'amidon et de polymère dans des conditions acides, la cuisson ayant pour résultat la formation de groupes anioniques sur le polymère. Selon une autre variante, on réalise une composition d'amidon modifié en cuisant de l'amidon et en associant l'amidon cuit à un polymère cuit, la cuisson ayant pour résultat la formation de groupes anioniques sur le polymère ; le polymère ayant été cuit séparément de l'amidon. Les compositions peuvent être utilisées comme agents clarificateurs pour extraire des solides et autres matières suspendues à partir de dispersions aqueuses, et en particulier, comme agents de rétention dans la fabrication du papier.
