ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A single stage white liquor evaporation process is used to remove sodium chloride from white liquor to prevent its build up in a closed cycle mill. The sodium chloride is deposited in admixture with sodium carbonate and sodium sulphate. The mixture is hot leached to dissolve the sodium chloride and the sodium carbonate and sodium sulphate is forwarded at least in part to the furnace. The hot solution is cooled to precipitate pure sodium chloride and the mother liquor is recycled to the hot leaching step.
