The present invention relates to a method for reducing the occurrence and severity of infectious diseases, especially infectious diseases in which lipid- containing infectious viral organisms are found in biological fluids, such as blood. The present invention employs solvents useful for extracting lipids from the lipid-containing infectious viral organism thereby creating modified viral particles with reduced infectivity and enhanced antigenicity. The present invention provides for the use of these modified viral particles in the preparation of medicaments for prevention and/or treatment of one or more viral diseases in a patient. The present invention provides vaccine compositions, comprising these modified viral particles with reduced infectivity and enhanced antigenicity, optionally combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or an immunostimulant. The vaccine composition is administered to a patient to provide protection against the lipid-containing infectious viral organism. The vaccine composition of the present invention include combination vaccines of modified viral particles obtained from one or more strains of a virus and/or one or more types of virus.
L'invention concerne une méthode servant à diminuer l'apparition et la gravité de maladies infectieuses, en particulier, des maladies infectieuses pour lesquelles on trouve dans des liquides biologiques, tels que le sang, des organismes viraux infectieux contenant les lipides. Elle met en application des solvants utiles pour extraire les lipides de ces organismes viraux infectieux contenant des lipides, ce qui permet de créer des particules virales modifiées présentant une diminution du caractère infectieux et une augmentation de l'antigénicité. Elle concerne la mise en application de ces particules virales modifiées dans la préparation de médicaments prophylactiques et/ou thérapeutiques d'une ou plusieurs maladies virales chez un patient. Elle concerne des compositions de vaccins comprenant ces particules virales modifiées présentant un caractère infectieux limité et une antigénicité amplifiée, combinées éventuellement à un véhicule ou un immunostimulant acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique. On administre cette composition de vaccins à un patient afin de créer une protection contre l'organisme viral infectieux contenant des lipides. Cette composition de vaccins contient des vaccins combinés de particules virales modifiées obtenues à partir d'une ou de plusieurs souches d'un virus et/ou un ou plusieurs types de virus.
