A process for the preparation of a modified wood product, the process comprising: modifying moist wood by subjecting the wood to microwave radiation having a microwave energy of from 100 to 4000 joules/cm3 and a frequency (f) of from 0.1 to 10 GHz for a period of from 0.1 to 100 seconds to form a plurality of cavities disposed in radial-longitudinal planes of the wood, at least some of the cavities being interconnected by channels in the radial, tangential and/or longitudinal directions of the wood, drying the modified wood; impregnating the modified wood with an adhesive component; and applying pressure to the impregnated wood to at least partially close the cavities and channels formed during the modification step and to adhere wood fibres with the adhesive component.
L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un produit en bois modifié. Ce procédé consiste à modifier du bois humide en soumettant ce bois à un rayonnement micro-onde possédant une énergie de micro-onde de 100 à 4000 joules/cm3 et une fréquence (f) de 0,1 à 10 GHz pour une durée de 0,1 à 100 secondes, afin que soient formées une pluralité de cavités situées dans des plans radiaux-longitudinaux du bois, une partie de ces cavités au moins étant reliées par des canaux dans des directions radiales, tangentielles et/ou longitudinales du bois, à sécher le bois modifié, à imprégner le bois modifié avec une composante adhésive, et à appliquer une pression sur le bois imprégné pour fermer du moins en partie les cavités et canaux formés durant l'étape de modification et pour que les fibres de bois adhèrent à la composante adhésive.
