This invention shows a method for improving water-proofing property of water-setting inorganic compositions such as plaster. The modifier is prepared by emulsifying (A) a copolymer of a vinyl monomer and unsaturated dicaboxylic acid (or anhydride) having an acid number of 200 - 400 mg KOH/g (SMA 2000 or 3000) and (B) organopolysiloxane or its derivatives into water by use of alkali compounds, where the ratio of (A) / (B) is in the range from 20/1 to 1/20. The modified water-setting inorganic compositions of claim contain (A) + (B) at 0.01~20 wt-%.

L'invention présente une méthode pour améliorer les propriétés d'imperméabilisation à l'eau de compositions minérales avec prise à l'eau, comme le plâtre. L'agent modificateur est préparé par émulsion (A) d'un copolymère de monomère vinylique et d'un acide dicarboxylique insaturé (ou de l'anhydride), possédant un indice d'acide de 200 - 400 mg de KOH/g (SMA de 2000 ou 3000) et (B) d'un organopolysiloxane ou d'un dérivé, dans l'eau, avec des alcalis, le rapport (A)/(B) se situant dans une plage de 20/1 à 1/20. Les compositions minérales avec prise à l'eau de l'invention renferment (A) + (B) à raison de 0,01~20 % en poids.
