The Modular Barge invention is a superior floating platform. The Modular Barge unit is safer, lighter, more adaptable to different work requirements, easier to transport, launch, recover, more cost effective, made from more readily available materials, and stronger than other barge designs. The Modular Barge units are connected by a unique mechanism whose shear capacity exceeds the load capability of the barge system, even when multiple units are combined to support loads of one million pounds. The construction of the unit permits wave actions to permeate through the barge instead of stressing joints between multiple units. The platforms join together in different configurations as required. This includes using them as building blocks to make long floating roads to cross lakes and muskeg or barges capable of transporting heavy loads. Modular barges are also ideal for construction platforms. These platforms are used for excavating, drilling, craning, pumping, dredging, environmental monitoring, and other work that requires a solid floating platform. Modular barges are also ideal for supporting floating buildings that are required for pump houses, outfalls, and other industrial tasks. The inventor has 20 years experience working with old style barges in the oil sands, refinery, pulp and paper, power, and government sector. The modular barge is a better solution to complete many barging tasks in those industries.
